ABOUT US

The founder began working in the prison ministry arena in 1990. As he served as a volunteer with Prison Fellowship Ministries, he quickly became aware of the recidivism or failed reentry dilemma. After much prayer over an eight year span, God called him in June 2001 to begin working on solving the failed reentry dilemma. Consequently, he founded New Beginnings Foundation, Inc. (NBFI), an Alabama 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, in June 2003.
Based on over a decade of prison ministry and reentry research, he developed a reentry model called “Pathway to Freedom”. This model is currently being implemented at three Alabama prisons: Kilby Correctional Facility in Montgomery (men), Julia Tutwiler in Wetumpka (women) and the Montgomery Women's Facility. There are a host of volunteer opportunities, both behind the walls and in the local community. Go to How You Can Help and sign up now.
As of 1 June 2019, we transferred ownership of the in-prison Pathway to Freedom program to We Care Program. Please visit their website to find out more information about this wonderful organization: www.wecareprogram.org.
Testimonies
Hello,
My name is Connie and I am currently incarcerated at Julia Tutwiler Prison. I’m 48 years old and have been locked up three years now. I am in the program “Pathway to Freedom.” I am enjoying the class very much; it has helped me to grow spiritually and taught me the value of being in a group and sharing the closeness with other inmates. I have done a lot of emotional healing through the class and learned the value of love and sharing. Also the staff and volunteers have been really great and supportive through the program and during classes. I would recommend the class to other inmates who haven’t taken it, because it will surely change your life in a positive way. I can certainly see God’s love working though this class and I feel very fortunate to be a part of it.
