PATHWAY TO FREEDOM'S VISION and GOALS:

Compassionately reducing recidivism by helping individuals develop a foundation of spiritual wellness and providing connection to community resources and support groups, thereby promoting responsible and productive citizens, stronger families and safer communities.

Our Goal: By 2012 to be in 7 Prisons with up to 500 in-prison program participants building a spiritual foundation for successful reentry!

First Ladies' Class Graduates

The first class of ladies completed their two year Pathway to Freedom program on July 1st.  Eighteen were awarded their diplomas at the Montgomery Women's Facility the evening of July 1st.  Another two completed their program at the Birmingham Work Release.  Six more will be awarded diplomas at the Tutwiler Annex on Monday, July 19th. Another 13 ladies, who were in the program, have been granted parole.  Thus far, all are staying on target.  Please pray for those paroled and those awaiting release.  Their challenges are immense.  Stand in the gap for them.

Prison Fellowship Ministry Partnership Exploration Continues

We to explore forming a partnership with Prison Fellowship Ministries at two prisons--Tutwiler Prison for Women and the Federal Prison Camp on Maxwell Air Force Base.  The new Executive Director for this region, Paul Stock, will make his second visit to Montgomery Wednesday afternoon.  Pray for clear understanding of how we can work better together, especially in developing Community Reentry Teams.  For those being released from prison, unless they have a good support system (family, friends, churches, etc.), they are put in a survival situation.  When the body of Christ coming alonside them, their chances of successful reentry are over 85 percent.  Without support, only about 40 percent will stay out of prison.  Be the hands and feet of Jesus to these men and women!

Federal Prison Camp Montgomery

The initial pilot of Pathway to Freedom at the Federal Prison Camp located on Maxwell Air Force Base is about to begin within the next two weeks.  Mr. Carey Hawkins will lead this effort.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call us at 334-261-3318 and leave a message.  We currently have no volunteers to man the office, so our phone coverage is very limited.  Training to include a criminial background check and fingerprints are required before you can facilitate any of the courses.  We expect to have a training date by late summer.

Testimonies

Making Peace has given me a chance to really search myself and understand things that I never did. I am aware of problems that I need to work on and I know I can not do it alone. God is my support in this strengthening session of my life. I can peel these so called layers of skin off and begin fresh with a healing process that will not fail as long as I keep God in everything I try and do. It will not be easy and it’s something to deal with everyday but I have a better understanding of how to accomplish what I need to do.
